Karen Poole

Karen PooleAs a friend recently said in his blog, I am a ‘self-proclaimed gob-shite’ from Yorkshire. I’ve classed cycling as my first sport since 2011 (after ‘retiring’ from international orienteering when I decided I was too old!), although I have very early memories of me riding a bike around the leafy lanes of the Cartmel peninsula in Cumbria, so have probably always had cycling in my blood.

I might be a competitive cyclist, but nothing beats the sheer joy of a long hilly ride in the beautiful landscape that is Great Britain, exploring new roads and meeting new people with a common interest. I hope you enjoy reading my ‘Ramblings on Two Wheels’.

Iain Marshall

Iain MarshallIain has been pedalling through London and Richmond Park, believe it or not, since 1989. He definitely predates the genus, ‘mamil’.
If you enjoy reading his posts please consider donating money to Iain and his Gurning Grimpeurs team who are raising vital funds for Bloodwise – who are fighting to beat blood cancer. Bloodwise have been named the official charity of the Prudential Ride London for 2017. Iain and his wife have just completed their third London to Paris cycle ride as part of their fundraising which began over two years ago in memory of Iain’s brother-in-law Mike who’d lived with acute myeloid leukaemia for almost a year before he died. The Gurning Grimpeurs include Mike’s two children and his wife.

Gerry Patterson

Gerry PattersonAccording to his grandfather, Gerry Patterson was born in a snowbank in remote eastern Quebec, which he somehow managed to escape (Quebec, not the snowbank) and years later landed in southern France. He runs a cycling tour company (44|5 Cycling Tours) with another misplaced North American, based near mythic Mont Ventoux.

Apart from pinching himself daily for the past 10 years in France to make sure it’s not all a dream, Gerry has been blogging on leg-shavings and other important bike matters since 2008 (you can read his blog here). He would never presume to call himself an expert on anything, but he does know every centimeter of every road that leads to the top of Mont Ventoux and has ridden extensively in the Alps, Pyrenees, Massif Central, bits a pieces of the rest of Europe…and remote eastern Quebec.
